Stacy Kim is a New York–based, award-winning documentary editor and story producer shaping nonfiction films and series across independent cinema, television, and streaming platforms including Netflix, HBO Max, PBS, and Vice Media.

Grounded in journalistic rigor and guided by a character-driven, cinematic approach, her editing is defined by clarity, rhythm, and emotional precision. She is known for an instinctive sense of pacing and structure, bringing focus and restraint to complex subjects while preserving their human stakes.

Her recent feature The Seoul Guardians received a Jury Special Mention at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where the jury described it as “an intense and gripping work, with a tight, masterfully edited narrative focused on an urgent topic relevant on a global scale, solidarity and democracy.” Critic Panos Kotzathanasis also noted that “the editing is among the strongest elements in the film, creating tension through constant cuts and the complete absence of unnecessary material.”

Her films have screened at major festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, Tribeca Festival, Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, Big Sky, Virginia, Flickers’ Rhode Island, Washington, and Rotterdam, and have reached global audiences through Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Channel, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, and VICE TV.

She also served as an Additional Editor on The Last of the Sea Women, which received the NETPAC Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Documentary Award from the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of AAPI Cinema and Television.

Through a journalistic yet cinematic lens, she brings precision and empathy to stories that resonate across cultures.
